An American Possiblity: Mike, Tell Us the Story About...
By Mike Maschmeier. A memoir of the author’s adventure-driven life, including his 28 year career as a game warden. Mike immerses himself into standup comedy, Mardi Gras and Burning Man festivities and a rather severe fishing addiction. Testing a different form of mettle, while being incapable of helping, Mike had to deal with two friends’ dark descent into totally debilitating mental illness. As he grappled with his waning, internal, traditional religious belies, he also found himself fulfilling a promise made to God; that if he survived cancer, he would join a Hospice team to do what he could to comfort the dying.
Eurekan Maschmeier weaves a contemplative but very enjoyable tale from a Midwest then Californian childhood to a life of travel and working many trades around the country. These included carnie, truck driver, movie projectionist, vacuum cleaner salesman, pizza seller, getting a fisheries degree at HSU, becoming a game warden, coping with earthquakes and floods, being a Hospice volunteer, a dedicated fisherman and even helping with Spielberg's Jurassic Park.
Filled with humor, lively anecdotes and philosophical perception, this recounting of a life well led is definitely something to share.
