1969 Homecoming Float from Interact Club
Once in a while two articles collide in an unexpected way. Leafing through the Eureka High School Handbook for 1973, there was a list of clubs. The “Interact” Club was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Eureka. A quick hop over to the Sequoia Yearbook revealed photos of students in the Interact Club collecting beer cans as part of a recycle project supported by the Rotary Club of Eureka. As if on cue, from the writers of the 100 Years of Service: The North Coast’s First Rotary Club” came a 1969 photo of the Homecoming float created by the Interact Club at Eureka High to the theme that year of “Once Upon a Time.” The Class of 1973 students would have been freshman in 1969.
