HCHS Events: Saturday Speaker Series

Saturday Lecture Programs are sponsored and organized by the Humboldt County Historical Society in partnership with the Clarke Historical Museum. They are hosted at the Museum (240 E Street, Eureka) on the first Saturday of every month. The programs are always FREE but seating is limited - come early to reserve a seat!

All lectures will be available in person and online
unless otherwise announced.

Filling in the Gaps: The Untold Story of the Latino People of Humboldt County, by Mark Castro, MA, RPA

Mark Castro, , M.A., RPA Cultural Resources Facility, Cal Poly Humboldt & Humboldt County Historical Society, is an expert in Cultural Resources Management, with a Master's degree from Sonoma State University and over a decade of experience in the field of California Archaeology and heritage management. His journey in this field commenced as a volunteer at the historic Falk town site near Eureka, CA, where his passion for the rich history of California's North Coast took root.

Currently, Mark is actively involved in a project titled "Filling in the Gaps: The Untold History of Latinx and Portuguese People in California's Most Northerly Counties." This project promises to unveil previously hidden aspects of California's history and culture.

Mark Castro's wealth of experience, dedication to his field, and commitment to uncovering the untold stories of California's past make him a captivating and insightful speaker.
