Eureka's Chinatown Project

Lecture given by Katie Buesch, Director and Curator of the Clarke Historical Museum in Old Town Eureka. She is originally from San Diego and graduated summa cum laude with degrees in Anthropology and Religious Studies from Humboldt State University in 2017. She has been working with the Eureka Chinatown Project since early 2021, running monthly walking tours to share the story of Eureka’s early Chinese population and the events that led to the population being forcefully removed in 18875, as well as more recent work to recognize the Chinese contributions to the area through the creation of a mural, inclusion of interpretive signage, the renaming of a street, and the establishment of a monument.

Admission is free. Click here to register. Deadline to register is Friday, April 1, 2022 at 5:00 PM.
