HCHS Events: Saturday Speaker Series

Saturday Lecture Programs are sponsored and organized by the Humboldt County Historical Society in partnership with the Clarke Historical Museum. They are hosted at the Museum (240 E Street, Eureka) on the first Saturday of every month. The programs are always FREE but seating is limited - come early to reserve a seat!

All lectures will be available in person and online
unless otherwise announced.

The Dalys and the Store They Built

Join Peggy Falk for her presentation, “The Dalys and the Store They Built” on Saturday, March 7 at 1:00 p.m., in the first-floor conference room of the Humboldt County Library, 1313 Third Street, Eureka. The lecture is part of the ongoing lecture series sponsored by Humboldt County Historical Society. Admission is free, and everyone is invited.

Peggy Falk is the granddaughter of John F. Daly one of the founders of Daly’s Department Store.  She has researched her family history for many years, including traveling to the original home of the Dalys in Ireland to meet her Daly cousins.

Her presentation will focus on the Daly family and the 100-year history of Daly’s Department Store.  The presentation will cover the store’s origin in 1895, its growth, and the history of the Daly family in Eureka.
