A Colossal Mistake: How the USS Milwaukee Got Stuck in Humboldt

    An eyewitness account on the U.S. Navy's failed attempt to remove a stranded 252-foot submarine from the beach in Samoa. The author's cousin, Curtis Peterson, was one of three boys who discovered the submarine in the breakers in 1916. The slim booklet recounts that experience and USS Milwaukee's demise when it attempted to free the submarine.
