A North Coast tree finder, The Tall Tree Forest's 15 illustrated chapters aquaint the reader with the characteristics and locations of prominent tree species. Included are Sitka spruce, red cedar, douglas fir, beach pine, Port Orford cedar, western yew, western hemlock, California laurel, tanbark oak, madrone, big leaf maple, black cottonwood, California buckeye and red alder.
The king of them all, the Sequoia semperviren, gets a good share of attention in Chapter one. The discussion of the redwood tree includes a brief history on logging.
