The Diaries of Joseph Prince Tracy
Eureka, California 1893-1898
Edited by Harriet Tracy DeLong

Joseph Prince Tracy, Harriet DeLong's uncle, was one of five children born to Joseph and Harriet Morris Tracy. The elder Tracy settled in Hydesville in 1856 and established a stage line running between Hydesville and Eureka. Twenty years later, he married Harriet Morris and the children soon followed, Joseph Prince being the second-born. The family moved to Eureka in September 1890. Joseph's diaries began three years later and covered everything from names for the family's newborn boy to trips with his father to local elections to the condition of the family garden. The volume, which comes in both hardcover and softcover, is enhanced with copies of drawings Joseph made to accompany his entries.
