The seven reels of 16mm silent film that comprise the Bernie Bush, Sr. Collection came to the Historical Society from the filmmaker's son, Bernie, Jr. in 2004. These films offer a remarkable glimpse back in time to the people and places of southern Humboldt County. The elder Bush was a pharmacist in downtown Garberville from the 1930s through the 1950s, and the films span those years. Topics range from fire and flood, cats and dogs, to the highways and byways of Redwood Country.
