The Humboldt County Historical Society has an abundance of items from local companies who have done business here over the years. Calendars, photographs, hotel registers, business cards, accounting ledgers, correspondence, catalogs, bills and receipts all tell the story of everyday life in Humboldt. Explore companies which no longer exist, such as Chicago Bridge & Iron, which was instrumental to the war effort during World War II, or the California Barrel Company. The Brizard Company once had stores all over the county. In addition, we have information about medical practitioners such as pharmacists, osteopaths, optometrists and dentists. Come and investigate the commercial side of Humboldt.
